Concrete Outdoor Planters for Lasting Commercial Appeal
Sep 23, 2025
Concrete planters for outdoors aren’t just containers. In the right scale, they become architectural tools - balancing tall façades, softening broad plazas, and giving courtyards rhythm and cohesion. Jackson Pottery Pro’s extra large concrete planters for outside deliver this proportion at a level ordinary containers can’t. Built in cast stone, they provide the permanence, design flexibility, and reliability that trade professionals need to execute projects at scale.
Picture this: a new corporate headquarters with a sweeping glass entryway. Without the right anchors, the forecourt feels bare, unfinished. But when a series of oversized cast stone planters frame the entrance, the entire building gains balance, presence, and a sense of welcome.
This is why scale matters. Extra large concrete planters for outside provide the visual weight to hold their own against architecture. They don’t fade into the background - they ground a project and make the landscape feel intentional.
The Architectural Role of Big Concrete Planters
In commercial design, proportion is everything. A 12-inch planter disappears beside a tall façade. But a 60-inch bowl or a wide rectangular cast stone piece completes the space.
Take the JCS-86709 Modern Bowl Planter 60 in, one of our largest cast stone pieces. Its form doesn’t just support plantings, it balances expansive landscapes by echoing the architecture around it. As Forrest Jackson, CEO of Jackson Pottery, explains: “Cast stone gives you the opportunity to go huge. That’s one reason we’re proud to offer the largest planters in our industry.”
Correctly scaled planters become extensions of the building itself. They define edges, frame entrances, and guide people naturally through open areas. In doing so, they transform hardscapes into places that feel finished, cohesive, and welcoming.
Why Cast Stone Matters for Scale
Cast stone is a specialized concrete mix formulated for stability, strength and long term performance. This unique kind of concrete mix gives each piece the strength and refinement to function as part of the architecture. Unlike lighter materials that shift or fade, cast stone holds its place and develops character over time.
As Forrest Jackson puts it: “Cast stone is something much longer term. You reduce the waste cycle because these planters become fixtures, not temporary pieces.” That permanence is what allows designers to rely on oversized forms that complement structures rather than compete with them.
Installation and Lead Times
Extra large planters demand planning. Their size and weight require equipment-assisted placement and proper drainage systems. But once in place, upkeep is minimal - occasional cleaning is enough to preserve their finish.
Jackson Pottery Pro manufactures each piece to order, with a 6-8 week lead time. With U.S.-based production in Dallas, TX, trade professionals avoid overseas delays and gain the confidence that installations will meet schedule demands without sacrificing quality.
Design in Practice
Cast stone gives outdoor spaces the architectural presence they deserve. In areas with expansive façades, grand entrances, or sweeping courtyards, proportion is everything. That’s why we love the JCS-86602 Modern Bowl Planter, 48 in. It’s big enough to hold its own next to monumental architecture, grounding the space and helping greenery feel integral rather than decorative.
As Forrest Jackson reminds us, "Does this reflect the design you had in mind? What do you want this to say about the property?" Correctly scaled, cast stone planters become more than containers. They become design statements that echo architectural lines and reinforce intent across entryways, plazas, and gathering zones.

Yes. We can provide custom dimensions and finishes to fit unique design needs.
How long does it take to manufacture cast stone planters?
Planters are made to order with a 6–8 week lead time, ensuring consistent quality.
How do big concrete planters complement architecture?
Their size and proportion provide visual anchors that balance wide façades, tall entries, and open plazas - making spaces feel cohesive and complete.
Do you stock inventory?
While we may occasionally have limited stock available in grey, all castings are made per the order, including the client’s choices of color, finish and sealer.
What is the average lead time?
A typical lead time is 6-8 weeks. There are many factors that can affect lead times. We recommend contacting us directly to discuss the timeliness of your order. We understand the nature of project timelines and will always do our best to meet your needs.
Is there a freight charge, and how will I know the amount?
Freight charges will be applied at checkout and are based on delivery location. Residential delivery, hard-to-access delivery points, multiple drops, and liftgate service needs will incur additional charges.
How do I handle and place the product?
We recommend using extreme care when moving and handling the products. As many pieces are very large and heavy, it is recommended to use appropriate machinery such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or cranes. Upon delivery, it is the sole responsibility of the purchaser or client to set up and handle all aspects of product placement. Even though the products are very strong and durable, damage can easily occur from improper handling.
What is your warranty?
Jackson Pottery offers a 2-year limited warranty on our cast stone products.
